Welcome to North Perth Westfield Elementary School, a vibrant Kindergarten to Grade 6 school serving the growing community of Listowel, Ontario. Since opening its doors in September 2016 as the newest school in the Avon Maitland District School Board, Westfield has built a strong tradition of learning, belonging, and excellence. Originally opened as a Kindergarten to Grade 8 school, Westfield has evolved alongside the needs of our community and is now proud to serve students from Kindergarten through Grade 6.
It is both a privilege and an honour to serve as Principal of Westfield. I am excited to work alongside our students, staff, families, and community partners as we continue to build upon the many successes and traditions that make Westfield such a special place to learn and grow. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead a school that is known for its strong relationships, commitment to student achievement, and unwavering focus on student well-being.
At Westfield, we are proud to be a thriving learning community of over 500 students and approximately 50 dedicated staff members. Together, we celebrate our Warrior Pride through hard work, kindness, perseverance, and achievement. With all students learning together within our main building, we continue to foster a strong sense of belonging and connection, ensuring that every child feels seen, valued, and supported.
Our commitment to academic excellence is rooted in the belief that every student can learn, grow, and succeed. We strive to create engaging learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. At the same time, we place equal importance on developing character, resilience, and social responsibility.
We are also proud to implement CHAMPS, a school-wide framework that promotes positive behaviour and helps students understand what respect, responsibility, and readiness look and sound like throughout the day:
C – Conversation: Can students talk during the activity?
H – Help: How do students get questions answered?
A – Activity: What is the task and learning goal?
M – Movement: Can students move during the activity?
P – Participation: What does successful participation look and sound like?
S – Success: Success for Everyone!

By establishing clear expectations and fostering positive learning environments, we empower students to develop confidence, independence, and the skills necessary to be successful in school and beyond.
Creating an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment remains at the heart of our work. We are committed to ensuring that every student feels a strong sense of belonging and that diversity is celebrated as a strength within our school community. We encourage students to bring their authentic selves to school each day and to recognize the value that each individual contributes to our learning environment.
We are also fortunate to have the ongoing support of our dedicated School Council and broader community. Through fundraising initiatives and community partnerships, our school has enhanced learning spaces and opportunities for students, including sensory pathways, outdoor learning environments, playground improvements, and projects that support environmental stewardship, Indigenous perspectives, and reconciliation. These experiences enrich student learning and help strengthen our connection to the land and community around us.
At Westfield, we believe that education extends far beyond academics. Our goal is not only to develop successful learners but also to nurture caring, compassionate, and responsible citizens who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to their communities and the world around them.
As we begin another exciting year together, I encourage families to stay connected and engaged in our school community. Together, through open communication, collaboration, and shared commitment, we can ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive.
Thank you for being part of the Westfield family. I look forward to celebrating the successes, growth, and achievements of our students throughout the year.
