School Council
We have been blown away with how our first month of fundraising has gone. In one month this community donated $50,000 towards our campaign. What a start! We thought it was time to give a little explanation of what’s coming.
We are still in the process of securing prices and designs for our space and hope to have the firm final price of the project to publish soon. We had originally priced out two gaga ball pits and one 3-bay swing set with two accessible swings into phase one of the project to get some items a little quicker for student use - with those funds almost secured we are moving into phase two!
Our dream for phase two: We have selected to price some metal climbing and spinning structures, sports activities, another swing set with 6 standard swings, picnic tables, a multi-purpose natural structure for both play and learning, and a space for learning about this land. We are hoping ALL this can be included in our design but want to be reasonable about our goal. We used staff and student input from previous surveys to decide what was most beneficial to play and learning at Westfield. Everyone had big dreams and we want to do it all but also want to be mindful of cost to minimize wait times while we fundraise. We have a very general idea that the entire project will cost between $250,000 & $300,000. So although $50,000 is HUGE and AMAZING we still have a long way to go.
Thank you so much for the generosity and passion over this project. We think outdoor learning and playing is so important for our kids and are thankful you do to! It’s been a bumpy two years for the staff and students (and all of us) but they have been amazing - we can’t wait to give them something new and exciting to add even more joy and more learning to their time at Westfield!
